Admission

The Biomedical Engineering Master Program seeks talented students with a Bachelors degree in engineering, physics or mathematics awarded by an internationally-recognized University. The program starts in the fall semester and the application window is:

November 1 - November 30 for international students and for all students applying for an Excellence Scholarship and Opportunity Programme.

April 1 - April 30 for students with a Bachelor degree from a Swiss university.

The GRE General Test is required for all students who have NOT obtained their Bachelor Diploma in one of the EU/EFTA countries. Expected scores: GRE Analytical = 3.5 or 50%; GRE Quantitative = 165 or 90%; GRE Verbal = 155 or 70%.

All candidates must use the on-line application form by the Admission's office of ETH Zurich. Application and admission is only possible for one track.

  1. Submit the required documents and pay the application fee. In the motivation letter, indicate your reason for applying to the Master program in Biomedical Engineering, including past research or study experience in the field as well as future plans.
  2. Arrange to have at least two letters of recommendation written for you (at least one academic reference). The online application form provides a way to directly request a recommendation letter. Students from ETH Zurich and EPF Lausanne are exempt from the letters of recommendation (except for ESOP).
  3. The admission's committee will then evaluate all applications, and students with be selected using multiple criteria (quality and grades of previous education, motivation, GRE, letters of reference).
